Which serves our readers better, to embed non-English phrases or offer dual language text?
As a bilingual book author, I would argue that both techniques work for our readers. Bilingual books, such as Magdalena’ s Picnic, are fun to read for bilingual readers who can comfortably follow the plot in either language. For those not quite fluent in either English or Spanish, reading an embedded book might help understand the plot – by context and deduction – even though some individual words might not be completely understood.
Either way, both are fun to read!
