Lisa WilckeAuthor and Illustrator Since 2003 I have owned Femmes de Verre, a company offering fused-glass art experiences to school communities. Through my work, I recognized the need for accurate glass books for school-aged readers and in an attempt to remedy this I discovered that I love writing. After hearing about a pie contest held at the Portland Woodstock farmers market, I realized it was a perfect background for a story about an industrious girl with a love for pie. This became The Pie Contest – A Story and a Recipe. I addition to The Pie Contest, I am the author of lichenloglichenblog, the illustrator of Our Amazing Oregon Forests, and an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
